MOTHER Nature may have played a role in deciding Shadow Sax’s next target.
Unbeaten from six starts this season, the son of Shadow Play was given a freshen up after his Geelong Cup triumph on December 9.
Following the gelding’s successful trial at Ballarat this morning, trainer Emma Stewart revealed her plans for the rising star.
“I’m considering taking him over for the South Australia Cup next week,” Stewart said. “That will depend on the weather.
“It’s usually pretty hot there this time of the year, so if that’s the case, he may go to the Shepparton Cup instead.”
Although Adelaide has sweltered today, next Saturday night’s forecast is 23 degrees, meaning Shadow Sax is likely to head interstate.
While no firm decision has been made on the five-year-old’s immediate mission, Stewart has marked the Ballarat and Hunter Cup on Shadow Sax’s calendar.
Ballarat’s flagship event is scheduled for January 20, with the A G Hunter to be conducted at Tabcorp Park Melton on February 3.
