POPULAR reinswoman Rebecca Bartley is hoping for a happy homecoming on Saturday night.
Bartley is set to partner exciting pacer San Carlo in the Neatline Homes Shepparton Gold Cup, with victory in the Group Two part of the driver’s “wish list”.
To her dismay, however, the Stephen O’Donoghue-trained son of Mach Three has drawn the inside of the second row.
Despite the obstacle, Bartley is confident San Carlo can add to his impressive record.
“It’s nice to win any race, but my home cup is one I’d like to win,” Bartley said. “The draw isn’t what we’d like, but it is what it is.
“He is good enough to overcome it, now it’s a matter of what kind of run he gets on the night.”
Considered by some as the ‘find’ of last month’s Perth Inter Dominion, San Carlo has been kept fresh since returning from Western Australia.
“He came home via road the week after the Inter Dominion Final and had a little break when he got back,” Bartley said.
“He enjoyed his time off and has been working great…I can’t fault him.”
Selecting in-form pacer Major Secret as the one to beat, Bartley believes promising performer Moonrock poses a threat.
Major Secret is the only other starter along the back row, with Moonrock to begin from the outside of the front row.
