Charitable Fixed Odds for freak pacer

GIVEN his status as King of Australasian racing and the ease of last night’s win, Lazarus’ opening quote for next month’s A G Hunter Cup could almost be described as charity.

Returning from a four-week break at Gloucester Park, Lazarus had little more than a training run as he cruised to an arrogant victory.

Driven by co-trainer Mark Purdon, Lazarus hadn’t raced since demoralising his Inter Dominion rivals at the same venue on December 8.

Among 37 nominations for the A G Hunter Cup at Tabcorp Park Melton on February 3, Lazarus heads the TAB Fixed Odds table at $2.10.

The son of Bettors Delight paid $1.90 in the Inter Dominion Final!

Should Lazarus capture next week’s Fremantle Cup, his quote is destined to drop.

The five-year-old’s stablemate Heaven Rocks – co-trained by Natalie Rasmussen – is on the second line of betting at $6.

Heaven Rocks will head into the Grand Circuit event via the Ballarat Cup on January 20.

Veteran star Lennytheshark leads the local brigade at $11.

TAB Hunter Cup Fixed Odds: Lazarus $2.10; Heaven Rocks $6; Chicago Bull $7; Soho Tribeca $8.50; Lennytheshark, Tiger Tara $11; San Carlo $14; Bling It On $17; Ideal For Real $21; Ameretto, My Field Marshall $26; Charlaval, Cruz Bromac $41; It Is Billy, Shadow Sax, Tee Cee Bee Macray $51; Others from $61
