THE latest in a string of injuries has forced connections to retire star trotter Stent.

A multiple Group One winner, Stent only returned from a 22-month injury-enforced break a fortnight ago when an eye-catching fifth at Ashburton.

Sadly, the son of Dream Vacation quickly became sore in his ‘good’ suspensory, leading to the decision to end his career.

Set to enjoy relaxing retirement, Stent’s record sits on 30 wins and 25 placings from 70 starts for earnings of $1,156,750.

Raced by prominent owner Trevor Casey, the nine-year-old’s victories include the Great Southern Star, New Zealand Trotting Free-For-All, ANZAC Cup, New Zealand Trotting Championship and the Rowe Cup.

Stent was also crowned 2015 NZ and Australian Trotter of the Year.
