ITALIAN visitor Twister Bi produced the perfect performance at Yonkers last night.
Not only did he prove himself the best of his gait by claiming the $1million Yonkers International Trot, Twister Bi did so in world record time!
The five-year-old stopped the clock in 2:22.1 as he cruised to victory from Marion Marauder and Oasis Bi.
Trainer Jerry Riordan admitted he was keen to see Twister Bi against the world’s best as he “just wanted everyone to see how good he really is.”
With defending champion Resolve working to the early lead, Twister Bi was then sent to the front by Christoffer Eriksson, with the remainder of the 2000-metre event a formality.
A son of Varenne, Twister Bi stretched his record to 21 wins from 50 starts for owner Pasquale Ciccarelli.
Varenne is the same sire of Swedish-bred, Australian-based trotter Cardigan Boko, which was retired earlier this week with 22 wins and five seconds from 38 starts.
