Shadow’s feature quinella for Fathers’ Day

UNDERRATED campaigner Kendall Seelster caused a minor upset by capturing last night’s Champlain Stakes at Mohawk.

Scoring at 9/1, the filly’s victory also broke the perfect record of Percy Bluechip, reversing the result of their recent clash in the Eternal Camnation.

Driven by Randy Waples for trainer Paul Reid, Kendall Seelster began quickly, but was unable to hold out Percy Bluechip, which covered the opening quarter in 26.2 seconds.

With the pair striding clear of the pack turning for home, Kendall Seelster sprinted to a strong four-length win from Percy Bluechip, with Pueblo Blue Chip third.

The daughter of Shadow Play covered the mile in 1:51.1, establishing a record for the $169,831 feature in what was her second win from seven starts.

Percy Bluechip is also by Shadow Play, which is standing at Alabar Farms in Australia this spring.
