FORMER New Zealander Bit Of A Legend has outclassed a stellar field to capture the prestigious Bobby Quillen Memorial at Harrington Raceway.
Conducted early this morning in Southern Hemisphere time, the $150,000 feature is run in memory long time Delaware legislator Bobby Quillen, who passed away 13 years ago to the day.
Driven by Jordan Stratton during his wire-to-wire triumph, Bit Of A Legend accounted for Mach It So and All Bets Off in a slick 1:52.1.
Trained by Peter Tritton, the eight-year-old registered his seventh win of the season and 40th overall – including 20 on each side of the equator.
Bit Of A Legend left the Shaky Isles with 20 wins and 19 placings from 63 starts, with his victories including the two and three-year-old Breeders’ Crown Finals at Tabcorp Park Melton.
The stallion’s wins since moving to the Tritton stable include the $150,000 Molson Pace, $55,000 Open Pace and $45,000 Open Handicap Pace with his earnings sitting on $1,868,856.
