Scratching just a precaution

PRECAUTION is the simple answer to My Sweetchilliphilly’s scratching from Tabcorp Park Menangle tomorrow.

With My Sweetchilliphilly casting a shoe yesterday, co-trainers Shane and Lauren Tritton elected to ‘wrap up’ the unbeaten daughter of Betterthancheddar.

The Trittons were using the race as a tune-up ahead of the Australasian Breeders’ Crown semi-finals at Bendigo on August 19.

“It’s nothing serious,” Shane said. “She pulled a shoe yesterday and we don’t want to take any chances with her.

“We decided to wrap up her foot and, as the saying goes, keep her in cotton wool for a few days.”

Despite missing the outing, My Sweetchilliphilly will be in peak condition for the semis according to Tritton.

The two-year-old – which has won her five starts in stylish fashion – secured her futurity heat at Menangle a fortnight ago.

Leading throughout from barrier five, My Sweetchilliphilly rated 1:57.4 over 2300 metres, with her time four-tenths of a second quicker than her male counterpart, Sicario, which shapes as her main danger tomorrow.

“She will be nothing short of her best for the semis,” Tritton said. “Her work has been sensational and she’s feeling terrific.”
