AUSTRALIA’S Shane Graham continues to do the nation proud during the World Driving Championship being conducted in Canada.
Competing against 10 drivers from around the globe, Graham is in fourth position after three rounds of the series.
Heats were conducted at Georgian Downs this afternoon, with the Aussie making his way to the winners’ circle by combining with Hetties Honey to register a $15.90 upset.
The mare provided Graham with a change of luck, having been unplaced with his previous drives for the meeting.
Having amassed 97 points, Graham is aiming to become Australia’s third world champion following the footsteps of Queenslander Keith Addison in 1975 and Victorian legend Ted Demmler in 1987.
Canadian ace James MacDonald has regained the lead thanks to a double, with his tally sitting on 144 points.
MacDonald, who has won five series races, holds a 14-point lead from Finland’s Mika Forss, with American Marcus Miller third on 123.5.
Defending champion – New Zealand’s Dexter Dunn – is fifth with 93 points.
The action shifts to Hippodrome 3R in Quebec tomorrow before finishing with four races at Charlottetown on Friday.
