RECORD-BREAKING trainer Emma Stewart has done it again.
Enjoying a stellar season, Stewart became the first horsewoman to prepare a double century in Victoria thanks to Isntshejust’s win at Terang tonight.
Stewart came close last term by capturing 197 races.
This time around Stewart wasn’t to be denied, with Isntshejust leading throughout with Gavin Lang in the cart.
“It’s been a terrific season and to reach 200 is even more satisfying given it’s our first year in our new place,” Stewart said. “We got close last season, but it wasn’t to be.
“Ultimately you try to win as many races as possible for your owners, but the stable’s strike rate is more important than the overall number of wins.”
Vicki Rasmussen is the only other female to register a double century, with the Queenslander winning 204 races in 2013/14.
Heading home from Terang with a treble, Stewart is within striking distance of another record.
With 211 wins nation-wide, Stewart remains a chance of eclipsing her Australian horsewoman record of 213 wins she established last season.
Stewart has 10 runners engaged during the next two days.
In another amazing feat, Stewart has won 44 Group Ones since gaining her licence in 2002…only Mark Purdon has secured more during the same period!
HOOFNOTE: Western Australian Skye Bond co-trained 221 with her husband Greg last season, with the pair sitting on 201 this term.
