SHOULD Lennytheshark emerge triumphant on Saturday night it will continue a freakish Australasian Grand Circuit link for Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen.
Trained by David Aiken, Lennytheshark will contest The Blacks A Fake at Albion Park, which doubles as the final leg of the Grand Circuit.
Success will see the son of Four Starzzz Shark tie with the Purdon/Rasmussen-prepared Lazarus as champion of the season.
It will also be the second time Lennytheshark has tied for the title, following his dead-heat with Smolda last season.
Retired due to injury last weekend, Smolda is a member of the Purdon/Rasmussen stable, with the power couple involved with every Grand Circuit tie!
In 2003 Young Rufus, trained by Purdon, shared honours with Double Identity with 15 points in what was the first Grand Circuit dead heat.
Six years later Rasmussen’s superstar Blacks A Fake was locked together with Mr Feelgood on 16 points.
Anything but victory from Lennytheshark will see Lazarus named the outright champion.
As for Lennytheshark’s prospects, they took a hard hit when the seven-year-old drew the second line.
