PROUD mum Krysta will be cheering on two of her progeny during the next few days.
A feature race winning trotter, Krysta boasts a perfect record from seven foals, with a pair of her kids scheduled to race at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Tuesday.
Another two enjoyed no luck when unplaced at Ballarat and Young last night.
Im Notta Trotter finished towards the tail of the field at Ballarat, while Highview Sharkzzz over raced when leading at Young before finishing fourth.
With two down and two to go, Krysta’s talented son Michael Thomas is a strong chance of making his way into the winners’ circle.
Poised to make his debut for New South Wales couple Joe and Mary Rando, the squaregaiter will be first-up since last April.
Although Michael Thomas has drawn awkwardly in barrier six, Joe believes the son of Malabar Maple can win.
“It’s a pretty tough race for him first-up, but we’ve been very happy with his trials,” Joe said. “From the draw we will probably sit him back in the field and use his speed for one crack at them.
“He is forward enough to win, but whatever he does, he will certainly improve on.
“We’ve also got his unnamed half-brother, which will start his career next season as a four-year-old.
“He has just been very slow to mature and is quite a solid boy…he’s more like a draught horse.
“We were going give him some educationAL trials in a couple of weeks, but he got a cold, so we turned him out.”
Rounding out the ‘band of brothers’ is Trikala, which has drawn the pole against claiming company.
Trained and driven by Darren McCall, Trikala is looking to break a five-month drought from the winners’ circle.
