A TOUGH draw is not the only obstacle Dont Tell William has to overcome in Saturday night’s Sapling Stake at Globe Derby.
Along with a second row barrier, the talented, yet wayward, freshman can also be his own worst enemy.
That’s the call from Dont Tell William’s driver, Lisa Ryan, wife of the pacer’s trainer Toby.
“He is probably his own biggest danger as he’s got to get his manners right,” Ryan said. “He’s got the ability, just not the mindset at this stage.
“The draw does make it tricky, but it’s not a big field, so there won’t be a lot of traffic to get around.
“He’s got a nice turn of foot, and if he races on his best behaviour, he will be hard to beat.”
Following this weekend’s engagement the son of Bettors Delight will be raced sparingly as he works towards the Southern Cross series in July.
“The Southern Cross is his Grand Final for the season,” Ryan said. “He will just be kept working along leading up to that, but won’t be over raced between now and then.”
