OUTSTANDING trotter Enghien has been earmarked for an international campaign.
Following the youngster’s Group Two success in Auckland last night, connections have confirmed Enghien is heading to Australia.
Two starts back, the son of Love You captured the New Zealand Trotters’ Derby.
Trainers Greg and Nina Hope have selected a pair of Victorian features for Enghien, which will be sent across the Tasman in June.
“We are very happy with the way he is going and will be aiming him for the Victorian races later in the season,” Greg said.
“He has the Harness Jewels in New Zealand, then we will head over for the Victoria Trotters’ Derby and Breeders’ Crown.”
Driven by Ricky May during his latest triumph, Enghien overcame the back row to account for President Roydon and Chevron Express in 1:59.2 over 2200 metres.
“It was another good run from him,” Hope said. “He will have a few light days now, then get him ready for his next races.”
Co-owned by Hope, the three-year-old stretched his record to nine wins and a second from 13 starts for earnings of $166,523.
