CLASSY mare Habibti Ivy will be out to end her season on a perfect note when she returns to Alexandra Park next week.
Fresh from her ANZAC Cup triumph at the same last night, the Paul Nairn-trained trotter has been aimed at the Rowe Cup.
“The Rowe Cup has been the main aim with her the whole way through,” Nairn said. “After that she will go for a break and come back next season.
“Last night’s run has really topped her off and she will be in peak condition next Friday night.”
With Blaire Orange holding the reins during her latest win, Habibti Ivy scored narrowly from Lemond and Eyre I Come in 1:58.4 over 2200 metres.
“I’m rapt with her win as she didn’t have the ideal preparation,” Nairn said. “Three weeks ago she rolled into a fence and took a bit of skin off her leg.
“As such, she missed work and wasn’t as forward as I’d like, so I was more hopeful than confident.
“The fact she won is a real credit to her will to win.”
Unbeaten from five starts this season, the daughter of Love You extended her overall tally to eight wins and four thirds from 14 starts for a bankroll of $135,084.
