HARNESS RACING SA has announce Ross Neal as its new Chairman of Stewards.
The appointment follows a detailed and thorough process undertaken by the selection panel.
Neal is a highly-experienced steward from New Zealand with an involvement spanning more than 20 years.
Initially starting as a race day steward in 1996, he graduated through the ranks, including as a Senior Stipendiary Steward and Investigator and culminating as Co-Chief Stipendiary Steward across all three codes.
Neal has attended as a panellist or chaired more than 1000 race meetings in all codes, including chairing all major thoroughbred race meetings in New Zealand such as the Auckland Cup, New Zealand Cup and Wellington Cup.
He was also instrumental in making major reforms in animal welfare, injury reporting, and race sample collection, as well as establishing best practice models including a more consultative and inclusive approach for industry participants and officials.
Neal will be commencing with HRSA on Thursday 4 May 2017.
