EADING breeding establishment Aldebaran Park was named 2015/16 Victorian Breeder of the Year, with resident stallion Skyvalley receiving the Victorian Sire of the Year award.
Sky Petite, a daughter of Skyvalley, was named the 2015/16 Victorian Racemare of the Year.
Skyvalley, which was also acclaimed as the Australian Three-Year-Old Trotting Sire of the Year in 2015/16, has sired the winners of more than $1.2million from his first three crops.
Hard Yakka, a New Zealand-bred son of Skyvalley, became his sixth Australian winner for the season when he prevailed at Geelong on October 18.
Eilean Donon enjoyed a solid month in October with Veruckte Phoenix winning aVicbred Platinum Mares Sprint Championship heat at Maryborough, Bee A Lassie, which was bred by Aldebaran Park, scoring from a 40-metre handicap at Globe Derby Park, and Nica Macdonon posting win number seven at Shepparton.
Aldebaran Eagle, a four-year- old Muscle Hill entire owned by Aldebaran Park, continues to carry the flag from the farm in North America. He won in consecutive weeks at The Red Mile, Kentucky in 1:52.4 and 1:52.6 and boasts stake earnings of US$226,273. He holds a mark of 1:52.2 as a three-year- old.
Other Aldebaran Park-bred winners have been Aldebaran Ten (six wins) and Aldebaran Brandi, a double winner at Globe Derby Park.
Aldebaran Park were delighted Aldebaran Malibu Tr 3, 1:57.4 (by Cantab Hall) dropped a lovely colt foal by Credit Winner at our farm on October 22. A winner at two and three, Aldebaran Malibu was bred in America to southern hemisphere time and imported in utero to Credit Winner to Australia.
Two races in the Aldebaran Park Monte Championship were decided at Kilmore with the winners being Rejuvenation, trained by Rod Petroff and driven by Kima Frenning, and Dabbsey for Paul Davies and Malin Hammarskjold.
