HE IS unlikely to reach the dizzy heights of his brother, but handy pacer Lookofalegend will get the opportunity to match of one his sibling’s feats later this month.
By Bettor’s Delight, the four-year-old is from top producer Soky’s Legend, which makes him a brother to multiple Group One winner Bit Of Legend.
Currently racing, and beating, the best in America, Bit Of Legend’s victories before he left Australasia include the two and three-year-old Breeders’ Crown Finals at Tabcorp Park Melton.
Ironically, Bit Of Legend was unable to win the four-year-old division, which is the series Lookofalegend has been aimed at by trainer Luke O’Neill.
“He has in top form at the right time and I’ll be heading to Victoria for the Breeders’ Crown in a few weeks,” O’Neill said. “It will be a big step up in class for him, but he has earned the shot at it.
“While we’re over there I will look at winning an M0 as well.”
Lookofalegend will continue his preparation for the interstate trip at Globe Derby on Saturday night, where he faces an awkward draw over 1800 metres.
“Barrier six isn’t the best draw, but he is the class runner of the field,” O’Neill said. “As long as he doesn’t get any back luck, he should be able to win again.
“That said, he is still on the way up and whatever he does he will improve on. He has won his last three starts and is improving all the time.
“In another six or so months we will see the best of him.”
