DESPITE her status among the best of her crop, trainer David Thorn isn’t prepared to consider Shezallapples a ‘certainty’ as Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday night.

Shezallapples is engaged in the Ready2Run Sales Stake, which is a drop in class from her recent Alabar Breeders’ Challenge Final victory.

In fact, five of her six rivals are winless, while the other won a maiden at Warragul!

Shezallapples on the other hand, has scored at her last two starts, including the Group One four weeks ago.

Although drawn the outside of the front row, the daughter of Sportswriter has been installed a $2.10 favourite.

“It is way down on class compared to the Breeders’ Challenge, but there is no such thing as an easy race or certainty in racing,” Thorn said. “Anything can happen as we all know.

“Some of the other runners are just getting started and could be ready to his their straps and win.”

Thorn cites Manly Mach as the main danger from barrier six.

The son of Mach Three finished third in last week’s Tatlow Stake at Melton when first-up from a break and has since been transferred to local trainer Belinda McCarthy.

“He is a nice colt and will be hard to beat,” Thorn said. “No doubt he will be better for the run on the weekend.”
