IN-FORM pacer Bettors Fire has been sent for a spell.
Following the gelding’s success at Gloucester Park, trainer Kyle Harper sent his stable star to the paddock as he begins the long preparation for his main mission – the Inter Dominion.
With the prestigious series returning to Western Australia, Harper has carefully mapped a program for Bettors Fire.
Inter Dominion heats are scheduled for November 27, with the Final set down for December 13.
“He has gone straight to the paddock and will have two or three weeks off now,” Harper said. “Then I’ll give him a steady build up before having him at the trials in early November.
“He seems to prefer racing fresh, so the plan is to only give him one run before the Inter Dominion heats.”
With Harper in the cart during his latest victory, Bettors Fire proved too strong for his rivals after racing in the ‘death seat’ to account for This Time Dylan and Northview Punter.
“It was a pretty good run from him again,” Harper said. “He’s been going great this time in and I couldn’t be happier with him.
“He has won his last three now and has earned a nice little freshen up.”
Rating 1:55.5 for the 2130 metres, the son of Bettors Delight stretched his record to 27 wins and 13 placings from 61 starts for earnings of $420,832.
