HANDY Western Australian filly Lady Willoughby is heading back to Victoria.

Following her upset victory at Gloucester Park, trainer Ross Olivieri confirmed the youngster will make the track across the Nullarbor for Saturday night’s Breeders’ Crown semis at Ballarat.

Should all go according to plan, Lady Willoughby will then contest the Final at Tabcorp Park Melton a week later.

Lady Willoughby gained a run as the emergency in last year’s edition, finishing fifth behind Katy Perry.

The daughter of Allamerican Ingot will be flown to Victoria tomorrow night.

“She has earned the right to contest the remainder of the series, so she will fly over tomorrow evening,” Olivieri said. “She showed last year she can handle the travelling, track and grade.

“She won her heat a few weeks ago and backed up with a good win town.”

Driven by Chris Voak, Lady Willoughby enjoyed a handy trail from barrier nine before completing a two-metre win from Foxy Dame, with the previously unbeaten Nuala a neck away third.

“It was another good run from her,” Olivieri said. “It has topped her off nicely for the Breeders’ Crown.

“If she can get a bit of luck with draws, they will know she’s there.”

Lady Willoughby’s victory was part of a quartet for Olivieri, who also scored with Im A Peregrine, Chief Thundercloud and Truth Without Fear.

“It was a good result for the stable,” Olivieri said. “The previous week I had five fourths and a fifth, so things can turn around.

“I felt a couple of them would win and the other couple needed luck, which they got.”
